O’s Notes: The Kitka Singers are a group of eight Eastern European women who combine their voices with rich harmonies. They have an angelic, cathedral sound. They perform traditional music mostly alone aside from accompanying accordion, percussion, tambura and bouzouki on several tracks. The best songs feature the choir alone, particularly “Otche Nash” and “Domnulet Si Domn Din Cer”. As the title suggests, these are Songs of the Holiday season but they are not all so specific that they can’t be enjoyed throughout the year.
