O’s Notes: Drummer Sean Noonan is an imaginative storyteller who is not afraid to take a risk. A Gambler’s Hand is the music surrounding an original story by Noonan, the tale of an Irish gambler who one day finds himself trapped inside a wall. An associated 30-minute silent film is also coming shortly. The real story on this CD is the musical combination of Noonan with the Momenta String Quartet. Violist Mat Maneri and Jason Kao Hwang (violin/viola) are among the guest improvisers who join the fray. The result is an exotic landscape worth repeated listening.
