O’s Notes: Jazz pianist/vocalist John Paul McGee perform eleven Holiday classics on A Gospejazzical Christmas. He plays solo, in duets, trios and quartets, both instrumentals and vocals. Bassist Joel Powell and drummer Larry Wilson are his core accompaniment. Guitarist Patrick Arthur appears on 3 songs, notably “Emmanuel”. The arrangements are fresh and really jazzed up! “Little Drummer Boy”, “Christmas Time Is Here” featuring vocalist Lori Williams, and “Jesus What A Wonderful Child” featuring Wendi Henderson-Wyatt, are some of the bests in a strong session.
