O’s Notes: Producer, songwriter, keyboardist Vahagn Stepanyan leads a strong team on A New Chapter, a smooth jazz-fusion encounter. They open with “Synergy“ featuring Dave Koz (sax), Leslie Johnson (b) and Eric Moore (d). Bassist Ida Nielsen lights it up on “Motion”. We also enjoyed the funk on “Gravity” with solo guitar from Greg Howe & crisp trumpet by Philip Lassiter, and “So Good” featuring punctuation by Moore & electrifying guitar by Feodor Dosumov. They conclude with peace on “Hold My Hand”.
