O’s Notes: Omar goes solo (piano) for A New Life but there is a wealth of music to be heard. His compositions are rooted in African traditions accented with Latin spices. The songs flow freely, each a statement of purpose, not violent but expressive. There are eighteen tracks on this rich and entertaining session. The subtle nuances and delicate tones of the piano are also well captured and reproduced heightening the experience.
