O’s Notes: A Rite For All Souls was recorded live at the Old West Church in Boston, MA on October 31, 1971. Mark Harvey leads the band on brasswinds with Peter H. Bloom on woodwinds, and percussionists Craig Ellis and Michael Standish. The program is a spontaneous cocktail of free jazz and epigrams that serve as a catalyst for the works that follow. They operate on the edge of man’s imagination in terms of artistic expression. The music is non-traditional Avant Garde with Middle Eastern & Indian flavors and expansive percussion instrumentation. We found it to be rather intriguing.
