O’s Notes: Guitarist Roni Ben-Hur assembles a core quintet with Alejandro Falcón (p), Pedro Pablo Gutierrez (b), Octavio Rodriguez Rivera (perc), and Ryu Lopez-Nussa (d) for his new release, Abriendo Puertas. Osdalgia Lesmes sings two selections and Emir Santa Cruz adds tenor sax to four songs notably “El Teide” with strong work from Falcón as well. Other highlights are “Mi Mejor Canción”, “Gua’ One Blues Pal Bobby” and “Lo Que es del César” with Roni asserting himself all along.
