O’s Notes: We haven’t heard such an outing since 1978’s Weekend In L.A. There are a few vocals but the feature here is his guitar. He’s very fluid with tons of seemingly effortless melodies. Joe Sample joins on keyboard with Christian McBride on bass. It opens with a radio friendly “The Ghetto” and swings over a few before the ballad, “Lovely” and some blues with the B3 (Ricky Peterson) on “Come Back Baby”. There is a lot to like.
