O’s Notes: Al is back with yet another exceptional recording. His work on Accentuate the Positive includes classics like “Midnight Sun” and “Groovin High”. Jarreau’s vocals are unique and engaging based on perfect pitch control while he scats and sings vocalese. This is his 2nd release after a lengthy break and it is world class. Listen to his work on the title track to hear his classic signature. Larry Goldings makes an appearance on the B3 to inject soul into “I’m Beginning to See the Light”. Among the other stellar musicians on this CD are Christian McBride (b), Larry Williams (keyboards), Anthony Wilson (g) and Peter Erskine (d).
