O’s Notes: Aft Earth is a collaboration of music and art between artist Tina Granzo and guitarist Ryan Meagher. They were focused on global issues like climate change, political discord, and chemical dependency. Their goal was use art and music to address the abundant apathy surrounding these issues. Tina shared her sketches with Ryan and the journey began in 2020 amidst the pandemic, and it’s finally complete. Meagher has a wonderful band with Tim WIlcox (sax), Andrew Jones (b), and Charlie Doggett (d). Clay Giberson (p) appears on three selections notably “Refuse, The Redeemer”. The music is melancholic, reflecting our plight. The CD comes with an oversized, bound booklet with illustrations for each selection that stimulate thoughts on each theme. It’s an interesting approach that we found to be engaging as a package.
