O’s Notes: Harold plays trumpet, writes and assembles a band to play a good sampling of retro contemporary R&B jazz. Little arranged and produced all of the music on“Akoben. They open with the funky beats of “East Of The River” revisiting that groove later in the set with “Stomp The Roaches” and “I Thought You Knew”. There’s a funky arrangement of “Take Five” and they add a gospel twist on “We Need Love” featuring Karen Linette backed by a choir. Heide Martin adds a soulful take of “You Don’t Know What Love Is” mirrored by an instrumental version with Little leading the melody to round out an old school, cool engagement.
