O’s Notes: Vincent has evolved from playing on the street of New York for coins to take a place alongside today’s best straight-ahead sax players. His signature swings with funky backbeats to support his message. He shares the stage with Jeremy Pelt (t), E.J. Strickland (d), Anthony Wonsey (p) and Richie Goods (b). The music is written by Herring and band members with a couple of standards thrown in for balance. The high energy level is balanced by a few ballads like “Piece Part 2”, a nice set.
