O’s Notes: Italian saxophonist Marco Pignataro has a style that combines his paternal (Italian) and maternal (Puerto Rican) influences. His band includes Alan Pasqua (p), Eddie Gomez (b) and Adam Cruz (d) with guest George Garzone adding tenor sax on 3 selections. They open with a festive touch on “Panamera” and quickly follow with a mellow Caribbean groove on “Voce E’ Notte” that continues throughout the session. Our favorites are “Alfonsina Y El Mar”, “Xalapa ” and “Samba Em Preludio”. Marco’s sophomore effort is appreciable and unique establishing him as one to watch.
