O’s Notes: Bassist Tommy Cecil teams up with guitarist Nate Najar for American Melodies, thirteen classics form the American Songbooks. Nate’s nylon strung guitar and Tommy’s fiddle (double bass) are well tuned to make the duo sound a lot larger! There’s a mild country swagger on this set notably on “A Little Priest” and “Black Beauty” but pop/blues is the dominant theme. Cecil does a fine job on “Bitty Ditty” as does Najar on “Rosalie”.
