O’s Notes: Brotherly is a British band that formed early in the millennium featuring vocalist Anna Stubbs and multi-instrumentalist Rob Mullarkey. Analects is a collection of their greatest hits, issued in a comprehensive package on both CD and vinyl (limited release). While we reviewed only a pre-release of the CD, we can tell you that the music is slammin’! They open with “System”, including pumping beats under Stubbs’ sexy vocals. The funky rhythm section gets invigoration from guest artists Kaidi Tatham (keyboards) on “Raindown”, vocalist ESKA on “Put It Out”, and saxophonist Donny McCaslin on “DTs”. We also enjoyed “The Code”, “Spin Down”, “Searching” and “A Little Trouble”.
