O’s Notes: We enjoyed the late pianist Bill Evans trio on“The Top of The Gate in the Village“(4/4), a 1968 recording with bassist Eddie Gomez and Marty Morel on drums.“Another Time“is another 1968 live recording of the Evans trio with Jack DeJohnette replacing Morell on drums for the“The Hilversum Concert“at Studio 8, Netherlands Radio Union. The legendary musicians were in their prime for this recording and sparks are flying everywhere! The trio was short lived but widely celebrated. This treasure was recently discovered. This is the first known recording for public consumption. It followed“Some Other Time, also featuring this highly regarded trio on Resonance. Each of the musicians shines on solos alone and together as a unit. Just sit back and enjoy (ignoring the occasional hiss)!
