O’s Notes: Saxophonist, composer and producer Jeff Pifher assembles a large ensemble with strings for Anthem. The resulting sound is festive and grandiose. Jeff likens his music to a cinema scope with a central theme underlying the entire effort. In this case the inspiration is The Declaration Of Independence. “Equal Station” paves the way for the showcase featuring drummer Corey Cornerstone. Jeff brings his A-game on “Homage”, dedicated to the saxophonists who have inspired him. We also enjoyed the radio friendly “Peace Friends” and “For:Us”.
