O’s Notes: Drummer, composer Quentin Baxter assembles a first class team for Art Moves Jazz drawing on inspirations from his angels on Earth, namely close family, friends and musical mentors. Baxter’s quintet includes Charlton Singleton (t), Demetrius Doctor (p), Mark Sterbank (t-sax) and Rodney Jordan (b). Check out the seasonal title suite with a New Orleans swing on “Spring” and “Summer” followed by a simmering, smoky groove on “Winter” that encourages snuggling. We also enjoyed the cool swagger of “Resonant Emotions” and the cover of “In Walked Bud”.
