O’s Notes: Al is a classic blues singer and cornetist. This two-disc set starts with At Home With the Blues, a compilation of his traditional blues dating back to 1998. Next Door to the Blues is more Memphis style free form gutsy blues. Both discs feature some of the best musicians in the business including guitarist/producer Duke Robillard. They play a nice mix of styles. If you want to feel the blues and engage in some great stories, this is a great set to start with.
