O’s Notes: Violinist Joshua Bell joins forces with his ‘friends’, some one the finest musicians around to make this CD. Mike Marshall (g) and Sam Bush (mandolin) play on “Maybe So” giving us a mild dose of bluegrass. Chris Botti (t) is featured on “I Loves You Porgy” and Dave Grusin on “Chovendo Na Roseira”, two of our favorites. The Latin groove of “Para Ti” is enticing and the cover of “My Funny Valentine” featuring Kristin Chenoweth is also very good. For passion, dial in on either of the two selections with Careless Kraayenhof (bandoneon) Bell’s approach leads to a collection that has broad appeal centered around his prowess on violin.
