O’s Notes: Drummer Wayne Maureau is a product of the Crescent City, and we hear the Caribbean influence in his music! He leads two trios, one with Ed Wise (b) and Joe Ashlar (p), the other with Jordan Baker (p) and Brian Quezergue (b). They open with a taste of calypso on “Island Life” and continue with upbeat, happy sound on At The Water’s Edge. We like the rousing piano, bass and drum solos on “A Day In Paraty”. “Twisting Currents“ and “South Lake”.
