O’s Notes: Joyner plays sax with a lot of feeling conveying large doses of emotion to these smooth jazz tunes. You can hear the influence of Kirk Whalum and Najee in his notes. Guitarist Peter White is very complementary on “Stay With Me Tonight”. The beats are pumping club style all the way through with deep, solid bass and drums. This is true even when they take it down a notch on “Just Groove”. There’s a lot of soul in Jackiem’s horn and he’s sure to be around a while.
