O’s Notes: Joey’s cookin’ again on Ballads and Blues with good company in guitarists Pat Martino and Paul Bollenback. They weave and bop through the cool curves of some jazzy blues. “These Days Are Soulful” is an excellent example. Saxman Gary Bartz makes a strong impression on “Take the Coltrane” adding to a collection with all of the right stuff both cookin’ (blues) and chillin’ (ballads)!
