O’s Notes: Yonrico plays drums and percussion anchoring a solid funky beat. He also sings liquid lead vocals with clean, meaningful lyrics. The groove is a throwback to the days of strong R&B but the mix is fresh. There is no shortage of soul on ballads like “Hear Me Now” featuring Mace Hibbard (tenor sax) and Derek Trucks (guitar). Rhonda Scott joins with vocals notably on “Not Alone”. You will pat your feet and nod your head with appreciation on this one, all 12 tracks.
