O’s Notes: L.A.-based drummer, composer and band leader Matt Gordy leads the Jazz Tonight Sextet that includes bassist Chris Colangelo, pianist Alan Pasqua and guest saxophonist Jeff Ellwood. We enjoyed the swinging flow on “Spring Ahead”, “Soul Eyes”, “Camouflage” and “Topsy”. The songs honor numerous musical influences in Gordy’s career but the album  Be With Me is dedicated to the people who matter most, his family and the musician performing with him!
