O’s Notes: This is mostly light jovial music with a couple of darker excerpts. Winograd leads his band from the clarinet seat. Joey Weisenberg (mandolin), Patrick Farrell (accordion), Pete Rushelfsky (tsimbl), Nick Cudahy (b), Richie Barshay (perc) and Daniel Blacksberg (tb) join him. “Sher 199” has a Celtic bent while “Freylekh” is klezmer music. They are good indications of the balance of the program. Michael composed wrote eight songs and added two complementary traditional pieces.
