O’s Notes: Saxophonist Troy Roberts shares the marquis with guitarist Tim Jago. They are Best Buddies and enjoy a friendly, fleeting exchange on the opener “Chythm Ranges” backed by drummer Ben Vanderwal and bassist Karl Florisson. They relax a bit on the title track and then provide a good mix of tempos throughout the session including the mysterious, mid-tempo vibe on “King Of Hearts” and “A New Porpoise”. We are always biased towards well executed burners like “Evil Eye” showcasing the power of the quartet.
