O’s Notes: Wayne (tb) leads a vibrant Latin jazz quintet with Murray Low (p), Mike Spiro (perc), David Belove (b) and Paul van Wageningen (d). They open with the spirited, syncopated title track that puts us in a festive mood immediately. They follow with “Freedom Jazz Dance” with lead vocals from Kenny Washington (English) and Orlando Torriente (Spanish). They slow down midway through for “In A Sentimental Mood” but pick it up again with “Going Up!” and “Solid”. Our head never stopped bobbing as we fully enjoyed all nine selections!
