O’s Notes: Cory (sax) leads a quartet with Joe Farnsworth (d), Peter Bernstein (g) and Mike LaDonne (B3), all polished, prime performers. The program consists of six originals and two covers. They are fully warmed up by the time they hit the third track “For Fathead” before slowing down a bit for the cool ballad “Blossoms In May”. We also liked the swinging groove of “Simply Said” and “No Bull” featuring Bernstein solos. Weeds is not only a jazz sax player but the owner of one of the best jazz clubs on the west coast, Cellar Jazz in Vancouver, and producer of many live sessions like this one.
