O’s Notes: Black Track“is the 10th album by the Japanese jazz group Soil & “Pimp” Sessions. It’s a collection of peaceful rap, R&B and soulful ballads to make you feel like you’re back in the day locked in on old school music. You may be surprised that this emanates from Japan! Motoharu (sax), Tabu Zombie (t), Akita Goldman (b), Midorin (d) and Josef (p) are the core musicians that make the music pop. There is a really tricked out take of “Cantaloupe Island”. We also enjoyed “88 9th Avenue”, “In2 My Soul”, “Introduction” and “By Your Side” featuring rap by Bambu and vocals by Nila Andrews.
