O’s Notes: Veteran jazz trumpeter Wallace Roney forms a quintet with four young lions, Emilio Modeste (sax), Oscar Williams II (p), Paul Cuffari (b) and Kojo Odu Roney (d), Roney’s 15-year-old nephew. They infuse youthful energy into eight lesser-known tunes. There is a fierce groove on ‘Wolfbane‘ featuring guest drummer Lenny White who also steps in on a couple of other tracks. Another guest, guitarist Quintin Zoto plays on ‘Don’t Stop Me Now.‘ Roney is in top form throughout the set displaying his trademark passion and rigor.
