O’s Notes: Jamie takes his quartet back to the traditional side on“Blue Dream“after a successful jazzy rendition of pop tunes on“Solo a Genova. He stays mellow creating a sound foundation on piano accompanied by Bill McHenry (sax), Bradley Christopher Jones (b) and Nasheet Waits (d). McHenry’s wispy tenor sax works really well on “Violets For Your Furs” as well as on “Words and Deeds” and we liked Jones’ work on the title track. Saft wrote all but three selections but he shares the spotlight with his formidable band throughout the session making this a good set.
