O’s Notes: Don’t mistake the title, this is not blue grass, it is more of Morgan’s take on classic jazz standards like “Lonely Woman”, “April in Paris” and “I Love You”. Carol plays trumpet and is joined by a fine band including drummer Matt Wilson, Martin Wind (b) and Joel Frahm on tenor sax. The harmonies between Carol and Joel are great as they make new beginnings from old standards. Morgan puts her slant on all of it, which alone would be worth sampling, but with this ensemble, we recommend it as a buy!
