O’s Notes: Trumpeter Brian Carpenter leads a large ensemble called the Ghost Train Orchestra. They have ushered music from the 1900s into the new millennium. Book of Rhapsodies is their latest release, an exciting capsule of music from the 1930s. The luminaries that were resurrected are Alec Wilder, John Kirby, Raymond Scott, and Reginald Foresythe. These bandleaders adapted classical and popular music to jazz. They swing through the melodies and have fun along the way. We enjoyed it.
