O’s Notes: Shirley has a powerful, heartfelt and delightfully warm voice that resonates throughout these ten selections including two originals. Donald Vega handles most of the piano duties with David Budway tickling the ivory on three selections notably the opener “Isn’t This A Lovely Day”. Clovis Nicholas plays bass with Ulysses Owens Jr. and Alvester Garnett splitting drum duties. Crabbe does a fine job recreating the classic tunes, sparking memories and exciting our spirits on songs like “Bridges” and the spiritual “Blessed Assurance”.
