O’s Notes: These are sophisticated, warm, romantic melodies that soothe the soul. The opener, “E Preciso Perdoar” as well as Jobim’s “Triste” have a samba beat and a groove that reminds us of the late Grover Washington Jr.. But Cramer displays his own signature on some of the ballads like “Until The Real Thing Comes Along” where he is able to coax elements of romance from his alto sax that usually reside in a tenor. He’s playing his favorites – pop tunes like Wonder’s “Creepin'”, jazz like Montgomery’s “Full House”, and even cinema themes. This variation keeps the program fresh.
