O’s Notes: Bassist, composer and educator Fumi Tomita has been polishing his chops on the New York jazz scene for over 15 years. He assembles a fine quartet featuring tenor saxophonist David Detweiler with pianist Art Hirahara and drummer Jimmy MacBride. Their tribute to Charlie Parker Celebrating Bird has eight classic tunes that include fresh arrangements and crisp solos across the band. This tribute is one of the best!
