O’s Notes: Mc Neil plays trumpet and McHenry plays tenor sax. They lead a quartet with Joe Martin on bass and drummer Jochen Rueckert. The session was recorded live at The Cornelia Street Cafe, New York in 2009. They open with a soft ballad before cooking on “Batter Up”. “Maid In Mexico” is a peppy Latin tune followed by an even more popping “Bea’s Flat”. Most of the nine tunes are among the forgotten works that are worthy of rejuvenation. Russ Freeman wrote all the aforementioned. They wrap up the set with “Pfrancing” a Miles blues tune frequently used at the end of his sets. It also served as a vehicle for John and Bill to introduce the band and open up a bit with solos!
