O’s Notes: This Christmas present has smooth jazz from Boney James. And while his seductive leads on soprano and tenor sax are enough to carry the album, he decorates the CD with extra ornaments! First up is Chante Moore singing “Santa Baby” then Angie Stone steps to the mic on “Merry Christmas Baby”, a soulful selection with a popping beat. Boney is at his best with the warm tones of “O Tannenbaum” accented by Paul Jackson, Jr.’s guitar solo. Another favorite: Rick Braun (flugelhorn) joins James on “The First Noel” rounding out a very good set.
