O’s Notes: Seth Kibel is one the premier reeds musicians in the DC area. Clarinet Without A Net is an illustration of his career to date. He uses two different bands. Odd numbered tracks feature Maximilian Jacobs (violin), Erin Murphy Snedecor (cello), Ahren Buchheister (dobro, g, mandolin), Tom Holtz (tuba), and Rowan Corbett (perc, bones). The even numbered songs feature Marcel Penzes (tb), Simone Baron (accordion), Tara Linhardt (mandolin), Eliot Seppa (b), and Haroon Alam (tablas). They span many genres including early American jazz on “Key to the Highway”, the way out west feel of “Wild Horses”. Kibel expands well beyond klezmer music.
