O’s Notes: Electronic drummer, composer Greg Smith serves up a contemporary, rock-fusion effort on Cluster 001. All of Smith’s songs were mixed by saxophonist David Binney. Banks Kevresan (g), Alexander Maksymiw (g, synth g) and Logan Kane (b) fill in the gaps on this club ready, racy endeavor. Kevresan opens “Ice 911” with a cool solo before the band breaks into a multifaceted groove. We also enjoyed the pulsating beats of “A Stable Genius” and “Leolo”.
