O’s Notes: Jimmy started Cobb’s Mob by enlisting a few of his students at The New School in New York. They play a cool neobop that is rich. This second recording includes guitarist Peter Berstein, Richard Wyands (p), John Webber (b) with guest Eric Alexander on sax. Mostly the band members write the music with a few covers thrown in. Cobb lays a foundation on drums that keeps the music moving through all nine cuts. While he’s the senior statesman of the group, he provides the spark, the energy and the inspiration to a great set.
