O’s Notes: Hank Jones (p) and Charlie Haden (b) are two well-established jazz musicians who collaborate as a duo to bring us Come Sunday. This is a reflective set of fourteen traditional gospel ballads. There are no vocals but the message is clear on all of the tunes, songs you will recognize and hum along with such as “Down By The Riverside”. There are also a couple of Holiday tunes but this is primarily a tribute to gospel and its relationship to the history of African Americans. Well done.
