O’s Notes: Compton’s Finest is the debut recording for LA’s drummer and band leader Brandon Sanders. He puts together a strong team for a varied, engaging session. They have a fine sense of swing on “Softly As In A Morning Sunrise” and on the title track featuring bassist Eric Wheeler. Special guest Jazzmeia Horn sprinkles seductive vocals on “I Can’t Help It” and “In A Sentimental Mood”, including fine solos by vibraphonist Warren Wolf, and pianist Keith Brown respectively.
