O’s Notes: Billed as the“Concert of the Century, Dizzy Gillespie (t), Ray Brown (b), Milt Jackson (vibes), Hank Jones (p), Philly Joe Jones (d) and James Moody (sax) took a journey north of the border to Montreal on November 24, 1980 in a tribute to Charlie Parker. The venue was Salle Wilfred Pelletier and the club owner recorded the entire set. The limited reproduction on vinyl quickly disappeared but Justin Time resurfaced the masterpiece to our delight. These are all legendary jazz artists and friends that had a ball during this session, led by Dizzy. Eight classics with lots of soul and free flowing solos that will hold your attention!
