O’s Notes: This is more of a classical symphony production than jazz. The music is a harmonica concerto composed in 1953 by Alexander Tcherepnin. Joseph Ashley (harmonica) does an excellent job taking the lead role. He is backed by a full orchestra conducted by Co Nguyen. There are also a few duets with pianist William Gati. We liked the bolero theme of “Concerto for harmonica and Orchestra Opus”. The music is well performed and recorded as well.
