O’s Notes: This 1977 release is a classic contemporary jazz album featuring Maynard at his peak. “Gonna Fly Now” hit the top of the charts as Rocky’s inspirational theme song. It was this track that led to the album’s gold status. The balance of the tunes are good with excellent solos from Bob James, George Benson and other band members. Ferguson’s signature includes crisp high notes on his trumpet and they are here in full force.
