O’s Notes: Kent Miller plays bass and assembles a fine band for Contributions, his latest release. We were mesmerized by saxophonist Benny Russell’s work on “Per’igee” and enjoyed the swinging groove on “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy…Percy”. Miller opens “One For Two” and maintains a cool groove all the way through. He also stands out on “Grace”. Pianist Darius Scott and drummer Greg Holloway shine on “Reminiscence” with Russell taking the melody to cap a strong set.
