O’s Notes: Italian pianist Vittorio Mezza teams up with Australian saxophonist Mark Ginsburg to make a fresh set of contemporary jazz. They open with the rich harmonies of Bel A Cappella, an introduction to “Afa” that sets the stage for“Convergence, a bountiful collaboration recorded in Rome. The landscape is beautiful with bassist Luca Bulgarelli, percussionist Fabian Hevia and drummer Marcello Di Leonardo establishing a sound foundation that resonates with power through all 14 selections. Among the best are “Seismi Dell’Anima”, “Big Sea”, “Solipsismo A Strati”, “Mimesis” and “Common Purpose” Including a fine solo by Bulgarelli.
