O’s Notes: When vibraphonist Cal Tjader plays, there is electricity in the air. This 2-CD set really swings capturing him in his prime performing at lives concerts. The first album is 1982’s A Fuego Vivo. The second, Good Vibes from 1984, leads of with Gillespie’s “Guachi Guaru” and maintains that pace. The music and the spirit have a life that seems to be infinitely vital.
